I washed the carpet from the bridge on the dock. While moving/pulling it to move it (full of water), it started to tare in the middle, as the rubber backing just split apart.

Rule 1; don't pull on a 12 year old water logged carpet.

Any way. I don't have any unraveling of the berber pile, and you don't even notice it whan it is down on the deck. So, what tape and/or glue could I use to keep it from becoming a total casuality?

    Thanks!!!

We have become VERY fond of our hot glue gun for just about every oddity that needs cohesion; very strong bond.

Or a carpet seamer from your local rental yard.

This, they also make a carpet tape that may work, but it's not as strong as seaming it.....or take it carefully to a carpet place and they'll probably seam it for you for $20 or less.
