Hey everyone, I've always wondered how people see cruising. So let me do a quick poll; will be fun!
When you go on a sailing cruise what is the one item you bring that you can’t do without?

When you go on a sailing cruise what is the one thing you can’t bring but miss the most?

Which activity you’d like to do but is unavailable on your boat?

Bleeding fingers.Swearing at your wife at midnight when a pump goes off. Getting smacked in the face by a wet rope. Lugging dirty old oil up a dock.

Or just getting a kiss from your bestie, and it all makes sense.

Coca-Cola. Nothing goes right when the captain falls asleep.
My wife. Since I'm getting paid to do a job I would seldom bring her along.
Relaxing and enjoying the cruise. Always thinking "What if". So it's not till I put the boat in the slip that I get to look back and think 'That was a great trip. Wish I could have enjoyed it'. Ever want to ruin a hobby make it your profession.

You're a marine engineer and you come here asking us to guess an item we can't do without, that we would miss and would leave us unable to do a certain activity?

Are you going to equip our next boats with a wife? Or a mistress? My guess is you have something to sell and it's not love.

Athens GA or Athens Greece? Is he talking sailing as in a sailboat? Yes, suspect some other business reason behind this thread especially since his first post here and hasn't even introduced himself or herself.

Oh what a skeptical bunch we are. So far all I've seen is a question we've seen here before, one that can bring amusing and educational answers. Let's try to be welcoming to new members at least until motives are displayed. I remember back when I was a newbie and thought I'd be neglectful if I didn't have a $1,000 worth of medical supplies aboard including splints and slings for every part of the body, and every tool imaginable. Eventually that list got whittled down to not much more than some band-aids, an ace bandage and a Leatherman,
Olderboater did bring two good points: Where someone boats is relevant. It'd be nice to know which Athens the OP is from. There are a lot of cities around the world named Athens. Also the term "sailing cruise" is a bit confusing. Is he talking about all cruising or specifically cruising aboard a sail boat?

"a boat is nothing more than a whole in the water to which we pour money $$$ into"...... so prior years we never leave home without our AX card....:)
sadly current times never leave the dock without proof of a negative Covid test or proof of vaccination aboard.....:(

That would be my assumption, but you know what they say about assumptions.

I guess my bad for not introducing myself properly. I come from the original Athens, and have been involved with sailing for the past couple of years (you could call me a "late bloomer" in that respect as I'm already in my 40s), but what actually started as an interesting pastime, has gotten me involved quite heavily to the point that I am thinking of starting a cruising business. In that respect, you probably understand, I have millions of questions, however the most important ones -I believe- have to do with what make people so passionate about sailing holidays. Enter this quick cruising poll...
If it's all the same to you let me elaborate a little bit on that. I feel, if I really am to proceed with this business, I need to understand what people look for in cruising that they probably have not been offered by the established chartering companies. What in your opinion is missing from your experience when chartering a sailing yacht?

My opinion is... our guidelines are quite clear on using YF for marketing research. This thread is being closed.
