I'm a sign maker, fabricator, and engraver. I am wondering what are the different classes of vessels (private and commercial), and what (if any) types of signage are required by maritime law for each of these classes. Can anybody help me with this query?

Federally documented vessels must have their name and hailing port visible. Hailing port is always on the stern. For private yachts, the name can be anywhere. For commercial vessels it must be on both sides of the bow. Locally/state registered boats only have to display their registration numbers, no name or port needed.

    Dear Cut Edge,

Your screen name has been changed to "Dull Blade". Why? Because it was clear by your screen name that you are here to promote your company. And how do we know? Because you used a warning emoticon to draw more attention to yourself.

If this is a problem, I'll be happy to return your name to its original status... non-registered member. The blade cuts both ways.
