Proposed new marina in Barbados

June 09, 2008: "Second Marina on the way...":The Nation Newspaper in Barbados has reported that a second marina may well be on its way here in Barbados. The same people that were behind the development of the Port St. Charles Marina will be involved in the so called "Retreat Marina"

The proposed site of the Retreat Marina will be in the area of Six Men's Village, also in the parish of St. Peter. According to Bjorn Bjerkhamn, the man behind the Port St. Charles Marina development, "This [Retreat Marina] will be a public place with a restaurant, shopping, apartments and berths for ships. It will provide more than 150 permanent jobs and bring in more than half a billion dollars in foreign exchange," he said.

Mr. Bjerkhamn continued by saying, "We have the experience of building the only marina in Barbados and we did a good job. This one will have 120 berths and complete access to the public."
