Getting ready to have the boat hauled for bottom job. Any body have any feedback positive or negative regarding Prop Speed? Is it worth the added costs?
It depends on where and how you use the boat. If you re mostly in deep water then yes, its probably worth it espcially in areas where you may not need monthly cleanings. For us spending a lot of time in th shallow water of the bahamas where we stir a lot of sand, it just doesnt make any sense and the monthly diver visit is enough
I agree w/ Pascal. It was pretty expensive when I got it in 2015. I have not reapplied as I found no benefit. Also, if you do get it, tell your diver to not touch it, or at least not touch it with a metal scraper. The prop-speed will come off easily and offer no further protection.
I’m in the North East in brackish water. Growth is a real problem. I applied two coats of Petit Barnancle Barrier on the props, struts, and shafts, and it did the trick. I think we went through 5 cans at $19.99 a piece, cheap and easy.
Here are a couple of threads about Prop Speed from the past: http://www.yachtforums.com/threads/thoughts-on-propspeed.27612/ http://www.yachtforums.com/threads/prop-speed-vs-prop-one.25970/
