Capitalising on the success of their “Ocean Trawler” concept, the Selene brand is now poised to move up into the 24M+ category of displacement yachts with their all new “Ocean Explorer” range.​

After the sale of the Selene 92 Ocean Explorer on the Cannes boat show Selene Ocean Trawlers will continue to expand their all new Ocean Explorer line and set their sites on the super yacht market, next with the Selene 120 Ocean Explorer, the first 2 of which have already been sold with construction scheduled to begin at the Jet Tern Marine shipyards in China early in 2011.

The 120’ is the result of a multinational collaboration of designers and architects under the leadership of Howard Chen, the owner of Jet Tern Marine. Chen has worked closely with Dutch architect Guido De Groot and a group of consultants to develop a yacht that exhibits many of the Selene family traits - powerful raised pilothouse, Portuguese bridge, and bulbous bow - but has a contemporary twist manifested in the addition of the large side windows in the hull and stainless steel anchor pockets.

The resulting design takes the simple and proven concept of the fuel efficient and seaworthy long range yacht to a new level of luxury and with all of the advantages of GRP construction.

The first 2 Selene 120 Ocean Explorers were ordered by China-based entrepreneurs who were impressed with the design’s mixture of contemporary styling and sea going capability. The first Selene 120 will be starting her sea trials late in 2012.
