We are purchasing a prestige 500 2015 with volvo IPS 600 pods. Have heard there is a problem that the pods are not grounded properly and thus acting as sacrificial metal and need replacing sooner then expected. Has anyone heard of this.
Prestiges are not bonded well to begin with and many items such as the A/C strainer, seacock and pump are not grounded. Also I'd highly check your shorepower. You should never need to replace the pods due to electrolysis. Do you have a diver replacing zincs regularly? Bottom line, you need to get an ABYC approved marine electrician that can test your electrical system.
I have just recently got an alarm stating that my steering actuator had an error on my port engine. When I turned off the engine and restarted, the error went away and everything worked again. It it happened the next day as well—after traveling around w0mmiles from Catalina back to the Main land. Does anyone know what this error is about. The pods seem to have enough power, and there is nothing actually wrong with them—is it a computer software issue? A lose connection?
Fluid level is critical for the alarm. Check that first. Similar to a car turning on the oil light when it's a quart low.
