I'm considering a Post 50 in my short list for my next step up. From what I've read 100 boats were made, surely some things must have changed through that time. Anyone have a link or able provide what if/any design changes were made through the various years of manufacture? I'm aware that various engine packages were offered though for this thread more interested in layout, construction, design, etc changes. I'll start a separate thread to focus on areas of concern for surveys.
There really weren't many changes throughout the years. The most notable being the fuel tank relocation around 1994?, the enlarged bridge in 1997 and changing the guest head access in the late 90's. Hull #90 was the last to use the CCP 953 gelcoat that was known to craze. The last three builds used the 53' cockpit molds. You will find variations with options and custom stateroom layouts being the boats were semi-custom.
Some of the changes Im seeing follow though Im not sure about the hulls and dates they started stopped. Some of these may just be the build specs as well. Any help in additions, accuracy, verification appreciated. Hoping collectively this list can be completed. 1989 thru ? forward saloon windows removed through has "impression" of where windows would be. ? thru 1998 Rear bulkhead has STBD side window Icemaker cabinet at end of saloon couch / older models up til 98' 1995+ Fuel tanks relocated from the engineroom to aft under the cockpit, which greatly improved engine room access. 1998+ Rear bulkhead changes, Doesn't have STBD side window. Also changes stg/freezer/cabinet config on bulkhead wall. perhaps removed in late 90's (98'?) then reverted back to having a window in each side Icemaker with cabinet moved to aft STBD side saloon against bulkhead. Includes day sink and upper cabinet. Larger saloon couch Number of hatch's in bow increased from 3 to 4 Flybridge size and layout. Increased the size of the flybridge significantly as the older Posts had a smaller flybridge are and not full width. Helm layout changes as well. interior woodwork changes. Fluting removed from cabinet design. Woodwork color lightens. 1998/9 - 2003 Gelcoat issues. Post identified 36/37 boats impacted from using CCP 953 gelcoat. They then switched to Interplastic after that with no further issues. ull #90 of the 50's was the last to use the CCP 953. Hull #90 was the last of the 50's to use CCP 953. 2006 - end of production Cockpit changes. Last 3 built used 53’ cockpit mold unsure when these appeared dinette changes to more of a U vs L shape helm pod center aft stern live well
The help pod became available in late 2000 and the 3 sided dinette with cabinet started in 2003. The transom live well was on the options from atleast 2000 but not alot of them were ordered with it. My 2006 has it. I know the larger bridge started in 1997 since my parent's 50 was the first one to have it. As far as the aft bulkhead STBD window, I've seen some 98's with it and some without so I think it came down to personal preference whether a false window was installed or not.
