Apparently, the world's largest solar powered vessel has been launched recently in Germany. She is called "Planet Solar" and stretches 102-feet. The vessel is in the form of a catamaran with an estimated cruising speed of 7.5 knots and top speed of near 14 knots. The vessel is covered in approximately 536 square meters of photo-voltaic panels mainly on its upper surfaces. Apparently when it is finished, a crew of four will attempt to sail around the world on it.
I've got images, specs and GA's inbound. Good job Ron! In the interim, below is a link to LoMocean's website. Craig Loomes is behind all this, a man whose motto is "why go over waves when you can go through 'em". http://www.lomocean.com/projectdetail.php?id=91

Wonder how long it will be before the Sea Shepherds try to get their hands on this one, paint it black and sink it?

Monaco to Miami - Zero Emmissions Heads Up Miami! Planet Solar is scheduled to arrive in the sun state today thru Monday... depending on cloud coverage.
Carl, Did the inbound GA's and photos etc ever materialize? I am very interested how the interior is set up on this one.
Pics & plans never arrived, but they were probably being pounded by all types of media, like Popular Mechanics, Scientific American, Discover, etc. They did respond to my inquiry and they were awaiting photography, however I completely forgot to follow up.
