Does anyone know any information on a 1968 commander sport fish transmission? We are having a problem with oil leaking up and out the control level after prior to and after replacing all the seals in control valve, lever pin, "O" ring, retaining ring, valve lever, lever pawl &bushing. Also we would like to replace the seals in the reverse piston and shaft assembly but no one seams to know how to take it apart. Does anyone have any suggestions or had this problem before? I have all the part numbers if anyone needs this information. Thks, K. Smith
Hello, I didn't see your note until now, and I hope you've already fixed your problems. I am running a pair of 427 engines with the HJ7 Paragons too, and they are pretty rugged units, very heavy, and not the easiest thing in the world for the average back yard mechanic to work on. I've rebuilt motors before, but I'd hesitate to crack one of these open, unless it was just to replace a seal or something. In any case, there are places that specialize in rebuilding these. I can't offer you any first hand experience with this, but I can offer you a link that has a lot of info about the Paragon http://www.network54.com/Forum/503931/thread/1149538699/last-1149538699 And I can also offer you a link that has a huge amount of info on your precious 427 Fords http://www.network54.com/Forum/503931/thread/1149537911/last-1149537911 I failed to note where you are, but once you put the thing in a crate it doesn't really matter too much where it goes.
