I agree with the article 100%, BUT this is why I own a boat. Last summer in Ibiza. We are the large boat on the right. Spent 4 months cruising, Balearic Islands, Barcelona, Coast of Spain, Coast of South France, Monaco, Corsica, Sardinia, Coast of Italy. 60 stops (Includes dockage and anchorage). Try to do this trip in a charter boat!!! PS: If you look closely you can see the Zero Speed Fins. Worth every penny.
I agree with you 100% Lenny. I had a similar summer spending 3 months on-board my own boat cruising the Greek Islands. We love our boats and their "troubles", care and attention are part of the pleasure.
We had a month long gulet charter from Maramis thru Greece into Adriactic and return. Twenty ports and six countries. Cost about 100k € - that's for ten people with half board and liquor. I guarantee you there were 33-45m corporate pleasure boats there that had bills higher than that for just two weeks + food+fuel+liquor+crew costs.
There are all kinds of boats, at all different price points. For 100K euros for 10 people, you would be hard to find a modern yacht for that price for even a week, for two weeks almost impossible. One is not better or worse, just different. Perhaps you could upload a picture of the boat you chartered with charter information?
