    Hi Coenharbour:

I think I saw something on the hullside saying 'Manatee Preservation Society'.

    ( Kidding! )

I have no idea... good 'Trivia Photo Round' candidate, eh?

That's absolutely insane. Where did you find this picture Loren? Did you take it or did you stumble on it over the internet?

    Loren,

Shouldn't it be called 'Slice & Dice' as that is what would happen to anything in its way!!:D

The throttle levers must go from 1 side of the cab to the other!

How fast is that vessel? 200 knots? LOL, just kidding. What do you need with 8 outboards?

Lots of props doesn't equate to speed, but the torque would be off-the-chart.

I am a self professed "student of boats". I'm always looking, reading, pointing and clicking. I just love what I do. The best part is- people pay me to do what I enjoy. It doesn't get any better!

Somebody did some serious homework in order to hang all that weight and power off the backend of that boat.

The "subtle" indications that a guy might be doing things illegal......

This is a trifle excessive. Must have been sampling their own contraband. Oblivious to the fact, that such a vessel, is carrying a neon sign.
    Saying, " Arrest me....Please!"

    Re: Engineering.
In truth, the amazement being expressed by others here. Is indicative, of a certain lack of engineering.

    Not without precedence, however.
We refused a client once, who was adamant, that we design a yacht with a similer arrangement. Very adamant......
He insisted on having four of the largest V8 OB's on the market, put on the back of his boat.
Plans were shown, that were more sensible, with inboard diesels.- And we attempted to explain that:

Apart from the torque loads, combined with the concentrated weight of said O/B's, that will, inevititably:
    - want to tear themselves off the transom.
Taking an important part of the vessel with them......

That; as a smart businessman, was it wise, to mess up the gracefull lines of my elegant design ? Or put gas engines, in such an expensive craft ?
As both will create an immediate, drop in value.

The response was to demand an immediate, return of our retainer.
We were glad to do this. Especialy, in retrospect.....

As soon after, the race boat, that had inspired our former client - sank!
Caused by the event, that we had predicted, could happen.
It's four V8's ripping themselves off the boat. Sinking quickly. Followed almost as quickly.....by the rest of the boat.

The owner survived, I heard. Who was I belive, the son of a former President.
Is there anyone in Florida - who can confirm this story ?

    Cheers !

    Consider this baby --SOLD!

MOD, go ahead and lock the thread. I just phoned Jeff Foxworthy and he's agreed to buy-out the owner, and his patented approach. In fact, he said he'll gladly feature the guy as the spokesman on the cover of a new 'mud-racing' DVD.

The Internet is a wonderful resource tool. All those misspent days in the college library surfing the web rather than doing my research papers...

I can't take all the credit though. Sea Eric beat me to it and I used some of the info in his link to get a little more info. Supposedly that boat is capable of 50-60kts with 5 people on board and plenty (tons, kilos) of "cargo." LOL
