I just registered today specifically to get some P'sOV from you old salts. Hopefully this will be the start of a long relationship.

Since moving to Mazatlán five years ago I've been boatless as I've been building houses and going through some good life changes. However, the call of these beautiful waters is overpowering me and I'm gonna have to make a move back to the onboard life soon.

There's a 45' CHB twin Cat diesel boat here with a $170K tag on it. Looks clean from the web photos. I'm planning to go aboard next week to check it out. However, I'm somewhat ignorant about the Chien Wha folks except for what little I've been able to glean off the net. That includes info that these are chopgun boats. True?

Please bear in mind that my use of the vessel will not be for long range passage cruising, rather for forays into the Sea of Cortez and across to Baja, three days to two weeks at the maximum. Plus, I'll of course be surveying the boat.

My questions for you veterans principally are whether the CHB is a worthy vessel for my intended use and does the price seem fair as an opening offer.

    Thanks so much,

    Gordon in Mazatlán

I own a 36 MT sedan which is a smaller version of the same boat. Usual concerns with the pacific rim boats of that era, decks, core saturation, blisters. All of these can be determined easily and corrected. These boats represent one of the best values in boating if you find a good one IMHO. I think the lines on the 44,45 are stunning. I would keep mine forever if the kids weren't growing us out of the 36 size range. Price seems about fair. Good luck
