I am an owner of a Onan MDKD generator and lost the exhaust elbow due to severe corrosion. This allowed salt water into the generator end portion.

I need a complete generator end . The stator and the rotor on mine is nonfunctional . I received a quote for new parts and the amount is punishing. There mast be a number of these sitting in someone's garage that I can buy?

Please give me a shout if you can help me! Even if you have an idea or a contact person that I could reach out to. Your help is very appreciated.

Are you getting parts from the manufacturer or a rebuilder. Any large city like Seattle or Portland has places that rewire generator ends. Ebay has several people selling new and used generator ends. Some are probably China made and under $1000. I have no idea on their lifespan. The are quality ends available, too. At 2x or 3x the cheap ones. Onan probably didn't make your end, just assembled the engine/generator assembly. I have an Onan and don't buy from Onan. In my experience their answer to problems is usually recommend you buy a complete new set.

Thanks for the info. Touched base with Delta Electric in Auburn Wa. They wanted $4k to do Stator and Rotor. Too nasty! New from Onan at my Company discount is only $4400!

Do you know where I can get flywheel housing that will support SAE unit like Stamford or equivalent.?
I do not know who built the MDKD or DKD gen end. It would be good to know.
Would maybe come by used unit also from failed engine as my engine has 1200 hrs.

Sure thank you for the help!

SAE 4 bell housing will match your block to a new Stamford electric end. By the time you pick up one, new fly wheel, new starter, build a custom exhaust collector (different pipe outlet angle required) and make up a start/run/fault/shut down relay system, It will be smarter to get a new (newer) gen set.
Yep, been there, did it, spent lots of money, learned the hard way.....

Did you call the shop in FL?

Try Marine Gear in Fort Lauderdale. I've bought rebuilt Westerbeke electrical ends with a new stator for around $2k from them.
