Hello everybody! Some of you might remember me from last two years, I was bringing my boat, a 60ft Chris Craft Roamer to Florida from Venezuela, got to St Lucia April 2009. Then in Oct 2009 I took her to Puerto Rico, sprained my back hauling 6 gal diesel cans to the boat, mutiple trips (long story)! Anyway I spent 4 months in the hospital with a MRSA staph infection, I died (heart lungs & kidneys failed) was CPR'd back to life, went from 240lbs to 160lbs had to learn to walk, blinded one eye, and my clavical no longer attached, 2 months rehab. Now I am preparing to fetch her back to Florida again if she doesn't sell on ebay. So any and all advice from the forum is very welcome. Only part of the trip that worries me is the jump to and from the Republic of Dominica to the Turks. I will want to fill up with diesel in the Republic of Dominica, so any info on where to do that would be most welcome. Also I don't have my charts here with me on dry land they are on the boat and I am in Houston Texas. Thanks in advance.
    Sincerly,
    Neal

    Holy crap! Welcome back!

Is the boat still in PR? If so where?

As to fuel in the DR, I'd look at getting it at Ocean World marina in Puerto Plata. http://www.oceanworld.net/

If you need to get fuel in the DR sooner than Puerto Plata I have a contact in Samana who should be able to arrange that. Or you could get it at the Puerto Bahia Marina just out side of Samana from what I understand.

For fuel in the T&Cs, look at Turtle Cove marina or South Side marina.

All these places are on Active Captain.

She is at the Villa Marina Yacht Harbour, Fajardo, PR East Coast. What would you suggest as the best way to travel? I like day travel, looks like I could anchor at Silver Bank overnight. What do you think?

Oh yeah, she has about a 600 mile range when the engines are running right, much less when not as I found out on my last trip. Ran out of fuel on the North East side of St Croix, had to have the US Coast Guard tow us away from the shoals, and bring us fuel. My fuel gages don't work, I have always gone with the hourly fuel rate, plus a fudge factor for the generators, which untill I ran out of fuel, was very close to actual comsuption. I have 2 maybe 3 cylinders not firing (port engine 12v71 TA) white smoke, and a good diesel sheen at low rpms. I will bring 4 maybe 5 injectors with me when I go to get her.

The Silver Bank is out of your way if you are leaving out of Puerto Plata. I guess you could stop on the Mouchoir Bank. If it was very, very calm.

It's only 90 - 100 miles to Big Sand Cay or Salt Cay in the T&Cs from Puerto Plata.

What speed will you be cruising at?

I will be crusing 12 to 15 knots, depending on wind and currents. 100 knots is an easy day run.
