As everybody probably already knows, another yacht has become headline news:
    http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=5471349
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/wor...tched-father-spotted-Delaware-say-police.html
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...r-ocean-for-Rockefeller-kidnapping-yacht.html
    http://www.necn.com/Boston/New-Engl...aboard-for-Rockefellers-yacht/1217366933.html
With the police saying over 380 yachts are registered in the US with the name "Serenity" (great imagination guys) the question is - where is the "right" one.
Seems to me, Yachtforums has a special opportunity to answer the "Amber Alert" - one which if answered successfully would stand us in good stead, eh?
    Look around the marina!

She's a new 72 footer, but does anybody know the style, color, etc. because a name change would be easy on a new boat. They said she may be heading for Bermuda, but that would probably involve another US stop for fuel. Canada or the maritimes would be a quick way out of the country.

Yep, there are a few boats named "Serenity" out there, but not too many that are 72-footers. Discounting the odd 72-foot houseboat, that more likely than not would NOT make a successful escape to Bermuda or the Bahamas, there is a 72 San Lorenzo with a DE registry (and a Miami hailing port) on the USCG books. She's a 1987 build. There were roughly three of these sold in the past two years.
A typical 72' Cantiere Navale San Lorenzo looks like the one in this link:

Hope I didn't violate the Forum rules with this photo, but, hey, it may just help locate that poor kid.
Hope YF gets credit if they do find the vessel in question.

interesting that none of the law enforcement agencies involved has been able to provide a description of the boat... one of the articles listed in first post shows a commercial looking power catamaran.

if this was planned, you can bet the boat doesn't have that name on the transom... it doesn't take long to remove and replace a vinyl name...

Is there a broker on line who can track the purchase to confirm what type of vessel is being looked for, its color and range. Hate to have people looking in the portals of every 72 footer out there.

....and assuming 1100/1200 MANs...56 GPH....24 KTS...1100 GAL--very conservative numbers-----> 470 NM range, tops. Not likely to make Bermuda without carrying extra fuel and, being in kind of a hurry, not likely to stop off for a "scratch 'n a squirt" in any yard along the coast.
    Bahamas-bound?

    1) Do we know for sure what kind of boat it is?
    2) It's unlikely he'll make 4 or 5 stops in the US before going to the Bahamas without getting busted, and Bermuda is out of range.
    3) that boat could blend in nicely at Nantaucket, and from there he has the range to make Canada where he can fly out. By now he could be in Halifax. I'd sure like to see an accurate description of that vessel posted (the name is irrelevant).

Certainly not on a boat with a range of 450 N.M. and with everyone on the East Coast looking out for you.

If a boat description hasn't surfaced by now it's a bogus lead. If he went south by boat, by now he'd be busted because nobody is going that way and he'd be too easy to spot.
This will be solved soon enough. This guy is no mastermind, just a dad trying not to lose his daughter and getting stupid about it. Seriously doubt she's in any danger from what I've read. While your all looking over the amber alerts though look at some of those other faces as well. Lots of kids who can't get this kind of publicity need your eyes out there.

Found in Baltimore. She's safe, he's busted and the boat's a 26' cat kept at a marina there.

    Rockefeller's "Puma" Found!

Well, it took about 15 minutes.
From the aerial photos and a bit of photo "interpretation" - right where a leaky old tub should be located - on slip #1 in the small smallboat section, eh?

    A LA-LA Land connection?
Any reasonable-thinking person has to be truly flummoxed by this latest development.
Miami is supposed to have the locked-on connection to any & all wierdos committing egregious acts in the Lower 48.

    Hi Alloyed2sea.

Where did you get the aerial photos?

    Best wishes,

    David.
