I’m a newbie here and am hoping that there at experts on board that can provide a plain speak explanation or opinion.

What are the consequences and limitations, other than insurance cost, for a yacht “not built to class” or “MCA” compliance?

Built in or about 2005 in USA
    Aluminum Hull and House
    122’
    230 GT+/-
    State Registered
Used for pleasure, but would like to explore charter use

    Thanks

    Hi,

What you have to comply with will depend upon what Flag it is under when you want to charter it and where you intend to charter it.

If it is US Flag and you want to charter locally the USCG no doubt has a whole raft of things you will need to comply with in order to take fare paying passengers, the least of which may be the qualifications of the Captain and crew.

There are no doubt others who post here who will be able to fill you in on the exact requirements for the size and type of vessel you are asking about.

What kind of charter? Where? How many people? Overnight? Domestic? International?
