Hey everyone! Just purchased a 1984 Carver Mariner last fall right before the end of the season. Sunday was our first cruise on her besides the sea trial. Well, unfortunately after about 10 minutes both engines just simultaneously shut down. Hoping that my fuel gauge was wrong, I through 5 gallons in it but it still wouldn't start back up. I ended up getting a tow back to our slip where I have since checked the fuel and there is plenty... I tried changinging fuel filter... Still no fire. Anyone have any thoughts I could try? Thinking electronic now...
    Thanks in advance,
    Kurt

Simulatenous shutdown sounds like an electronic/electric failure.

    Gas powered?

Check the fuel tank shut-off valves.

If your boat is equipped with an automatic halon type or other type fire system, make sure the system isn't malfunctioning and shutting everything down.

    Thanks everyone...

Thanks for the idea's everyone. Turns out both my distributor caps were busted. Glad it was a simple fix, but wondering what would cause this.

I am glad it was a easy fix. Things just happens sometimes but I would say you might have had moisture in your engine compartment. Next winter put some damp rid and cat litter in a container and place that in your bildge.
