The North Pacific 52' has been clearly developed from the success of the popular 43' model. As has been clearly defined, the 52 has smartly expanded upon the arrangement of the 43' model. North Pacific has bosted that their 52' model was meticulously crafted. Many of the components to this yacht have been hand laid. From the hand laid fiber-glass composite hull to the hand laid teak, these components alone exemplify the craftmanship. Characteristics associated with the North Pacific 52' model are endless but for this purpose a few will be named. The 52' claims a spacious interior and saloon. A significant amount of storage areas are evident. Greater than 180 degree field of view from the wheelhouse is also evident, great for navigation. More importantly, she is stable and seaworthy. Let us look at her dimensions. As you have already figured, the North Pacific is 52 feet long. The spacious saloon region is aided by the 15.4 foot wide beam. Navigating the near shore and shallow confines is not a problem with the 4.5 foot draught. She weighs 50,000 pounds in light mode. Here are some power and speed statistics. The 52', has many power options that may be available upon request but the standard engine power is 490 HP. This is provided by a 490HP Cummins QSB Diesel engine. With this horse power, a maximum speed of 14 knots is attainable. However, a more economical speed of 10 knots is available. The onboard tanks hold up to 900 gallons of fuel. Next, the interior arrangement will be looked at. On the main deck, there is the Saloon, galley, and wheelhouse. However, the wheelhouse is located on a split-level of the maindeck. The saloon is defined by a sizable "C" shaped settee and offcourse, the interior is subject to the owner's tastes and preferences. There is a half-way counter that serves to divide the saloon from the galley. Even this piece craftmanship is loaded with a number of sliding draws for extra storage. From the galley, one may venture 4 steps up to the split-deck where the wheelhouse is located. From here, you go one deck down to the lower deck where the accomodation is located. Below features the master stateroom and guest rooms. One feature is evident throughout the accomodation and indeed the entire interior and this is the wide use of wood. The wood has been well crafted, stained and cleared. It, the wood, has been applied to the walls, floors, cabinetry and in areas of the ceiling. The master room is preluded with a small corridor beautifully clad in luxurious woods. Inside the master is fairly spacious and gives a head room of about 7 feet, great for the average height person. There is a large bed that is several inches thick, offering maximum comfort. Under the bed, there are storage regions, making use of what is sometimes a wasted space. Two hanging lockers make clothing storage practical. The guest room can be configured for one person or two with two bunks. It can even be transformed into a study or office. However, as a guest room, it has a nice 5 inch thick foam bed with under bed storage. The room has a hanging locker and plenty to storage. At last year's Seattle boat show a proud salesman showed me a section of core that had been removed to install a diesel heater. It was about 2/3 the thickness of the core my DeFevfer 48 exhibited when the diesel heater was installed. Low price is good for some, but remember what is required to get the price down, with GRP a large cost component.
