  1. "Almax"; The World's First Fuel Cell Yacht
The world's first fuel cell-powered superyacht is "Almax", a 49.99-meter vessel from SanLorenzo forming the first unit in their 50STEEL model. To be specific, Almax is the first yacht to feature a Green Methanol Fuel Cell system. That system produced via a collaborative effort between the yard and Siemens Energy. Almax is now being formally presented to the world at the 2024 edition of the Cannes Yachting Festival which opened its doors today in France.
  2. The exterior design is from Zuccon International Project sculpting a look that is a bit off the beaten path in terms of what would may expect to see from this yard. The interiors are by Lissoni & Partners. Almax uses a green methanol Reformer Fuel Cell system. This revolutionary system allows for the production of up to 100 kW of energy, with propulsion engines and diesel generators turned off. Almax can easily cover its hotel usage via this method allowing guests and crew to enjoy silent vibration-free operations. It satisfies about 90% of the yacht's general energy usage and over the course of a year would reduce the yacht's emissions by 20 to 30%.
  3. There are 5 decks for guests to peruse onboard offering just under 500 GT (497 GT) onboard volume. At 49.99-meters long and having a beam of 9.4-meters and draft of 2.95-meters, the yacht can carry 55,000 LT of fuel and be conventionally powered by twin MTU engines running her to a 16-knot top end. It is believed she carries 10 guests in 5 cabins.
  4. The interiors are architectural but sophisticated and comfortable. Strong sculptural lines exist especially on main internal staircase. Subtle colours and palettes with hard and soft architectural lines and finishes also pervade the interior. While Almax is at the Cannes Yachting Festival, the yard to the opportunity to unveil the SP92 and SL86A—two models marking a major evolution in their lines.
