Weaver Boatworks launched their latest sportfishing yacht last week according to images dated October 8th from the builder. The new yacht is called "18 Reeler". The 97DC represents the Maryland-based builder's largest build to date. The enclosed bridge sportfisher is powered by powerful MTU 16V 2000 marine diesels that account together 5,200 horsepower and easily should push her above 30-knots.

Weaver Boatworks completed their previously largest build, a Weaver 90 called "J's At Sea" last year which now slips to second place in the yard's lineup. 18 Reeler on the other hand, has received her enclosed bridge section since being launched earlier this month and is being prepared for sea trials ahead of her delivery. The yacht is expected to be based in Ft Lauderdale as suggested on her stern.

This yard has been contributing to the plethora of large sportfishing yachts that are operating on the deep blue in recent years. Compared to other U.S sportfish yards they are holding their own. Of course the largest builds in this division still is held by Yachting Developments. 18 Reeler's principle dimensions are 29.56-meters LOA, 7.21-meters beam and a draft of around 2-meters.
