  1. 30-meter 'Defender' design By Vripack For Alia Yachts
Vripack has designed a robust 30-meter motor yacht called 'Defender' with a nod in the direction of a comfortable explorer. The design fits in the 100-foot size bracket that many new and seasoned yacht owners prefer for exploration. Onboard the vessel is envisioned to offer owner and guests 220 GT. The interior spaces are on two decks - lower and main- while the uppermost deck is open air functioning as a sun deck. Space is devoted more to family and guests more so than toy and tender storage.
  2. In fact, the yacht is expected to tow a larger tender over longer distances rather than keep it onboard. On the aft deck there is a well-hidden crane that is there to use in the movement of toys to and from the water. Defender 's aft deck spaces are more geared towards relaxation and near-water experiences. The aft most part of the hull has fold-out bulwarks to create small wing terraces at the waterline. With these opened together they create 3.6-meters of extra space which can be accessorized with extra sun pads or small modular furniture pieces. The area is a short step away from the swim platform which is both stylish with the wedge-shaped steps melding into the platform itself.
  3. A pair of CAT C18 diesels are onboard to propel the vessel. As she is a vessel envisioned to travel longer distances she will not be a speedster. The engines and her hull shape are all geared towards displacement speeds. 13-knots is the expected top-end for project Defender. Getting to the destination in comfort and luxury is the end-game here. "As with all Vripack designs, she has the capability for guests to spend longer aboard should they wish, but the onus is on sprawling space to get the most out of frequent short trips," says Bart Bouwhuis, co-creative director at Vripack.
  4. Internally Defender's guests will be comfortably housed in four cabins. Although there are to be four cabins for guests and owner the total sleeping is made up for six guests. The break-down of the cabin categories include a full beam master, two singles along with a VIP-grade cabin. There are two crew cabins as well to sleep up to 4 crew which will be needed on longer trips. The exterior is where most of the guests will spend their time though .
  5. The vessel has almost been built around the on-deck experience and enjoying the outdoors. There are two al fresco dining/seating areas with tables and seating for everyone at each table as well as one on the sun deck and the other on the aft main deck. Lay-out pads and comfy seating in various forms round-out the exterior seat regions for guests to spend on-deck time.
  6. The Vripack design is is one that is masculine with its angles and edges but still refined enough to not be overly 'out-there'. Overall the design takes its inspiration from the studio's rugged Doggersbank series. However, the final product is a modern interpretation of this line. This vessel probably will be built by Alia Yachts if the design is commissioned by a client. From signing, it is suggested the project will take two years to complete.
