You might remember that Nordhavn announced a few new models to their line up and of course the notable ones were the N80 and the N41 entry level passagemaker. Another one was the N71 as well and this article serves as an update as to the progress Nordhavn has made on this new model. At the start of November the yard said that working on tooling and the hull mold is progressing. Here is a look at the inverted hull mold. This will form the framework that will then make new N71 hulls.

The next major stage for the development of the first N71 is when lamination commences. The yard suggests this will start in January, 2022. Below we see the deck being worked on back in October. The Nordhavn 71 is available in two layouts: a three-stateroom layout with skylounge, or a layout that incorporates a fourth stateroom in place of the skylounge. While decidedly smaller than the 80, the N71 mimics her twin model configuration, sleek lines and advanced level of engineering. She was designed with Nordhavn’s in-house Computational Fluid Dynamics program. As is the case with all long-range Nordhavns, she will have ocean-crossing capability and will be built to the strictest CE Certification standard for offshore use.
