  1. Nordhavn's Third N80 In Build
Back in January 2020, Trawler and pocket explorer specialist Nordhavn updated the industry on the third N80 that has been under construction for its owner. The first photo below is a look at the first N80 but this feature is about the third hull in this line and emphasis on why this one is so different from the others. The difference mainly is showcased on the interior where Nordhavn teamed-up with Vripack -a design company with vast expertise designing of explorer type yachts-. This collaboration resulted in a European oriented type of interior; different from the typical American-styling. The buyers of Nordhavn 80, hull #3, liked what they saw and opted to go with a Vripack-designed interior.
  2. The idea for the interiors was premised on the concept of Scandinavian chic. The renderings below showcase this styling and highlights luxury living as well as a big-ship feel on a platform under 100-feet. Nordhavn/Pacific Asian Enterprises (PAE) are delighted with this type of interior on the third hull. With this styling the yacht can be marketed to a much wider niche market. "We are very excited about the new direction Vripack has gone with the interiors of Nordhavn 80 #3," said PAE Vice President Jim Leishman. "It allows us to serve the diverse style and tastes of our buyers", he continued. The finishes are so well put together it almost appears as a land-based high-end real estate property. Herringbone-patterned floors, Oak timbers, light creamy tones, Wimbledon White walls all feature through the interior of the third hull.
  3. You will find the American Oak timbers featuring prominently across the three internal decks of this yacht. The American Oak is treated with a White hand-wash to the owner's preference. This material can be seen on the floors and the cabinetry as well as accent areas of the boat. From this perspective looking out to the salon from the galley, the use of this material is evident and in part helps to solidify the Scandinavian chic vibe. High traffic and potentially wet areas see a finish of Carrara marble on the floors and the counters of the galley.
  4. Accommodation onboard the third Nordhavn 80 is split between the main deck and the lower deck with the owners taking the full-beam master suite on the main deck. This cabin utilizes most of the space just before the bow starts to marks its curve inward; maximizing the space on offer to the owners. The space is complemented by three large vertical windows on either side of the hull. The White hand-washed American Oak is on display in the master as well seen on the headboard and cabinetry. Brushed Brass elements were also used and Wimbledon White walls to add sophistication.
  5. The lower deck sees twin and double cabin arrangements with no compromising on the luxury afforded to the guest accommodation. Below is an example of what the double will afford guests staying onboard the third hull of the N80 series. The same styling is available with the Wimbledon White Walls, brushed Brass elements and American Oak cabinetry. Also note the size of the cabin; this is an 80-foot boat and the double offers a pretty decent abode.
  6. In the bathrooms all the wet areas are being finished with rich Carrara marble. Below is another example of the type of finishes that can be expected on this globe-trotting vessel. The owners were well involved in the process and understood the gravity as well as subtlety of the materials they were choosing for their yacht. In fact, Vripack created a sample material box which was shipped to the owners home so they could touch and feel the final selected materials and finishes. Following the approval, Vripack made photorealistic images and the virtual reality run through to not only tease but solidify the concept the owners are getting...like this lovely ensuite bathroom below.
  7. The Nordhavn N80 was revealed at the 2018 edition of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) and it is amazing how different this interior looks to the renderings that accompanied the N80 release in 2018. The N80 is able to accommodate up to eight guests in four cabins. There is provision to have two tender onboard, one on the foredeck and one upper aft deck, both areas are fitted with their own cranes.
