BMW; Tyde Collaboration Produce 'The Icon'

BMW is presenting THE ICON, a craft offering emission-free mobility on water. Developed in collaboration with boat manufacturer TYDE, this watercraft exemplifies an ecosystem underpinned by a holistic way of thinking that re-defines emission-free mobility and incorporates travel on water alongside transportation on the road. The vessel is small developed for urban mobility.

About this boat, it is a 43-foot watercraft that is electric, at speed its hydrofoils raise the craft out of the water to reduce contact which inherently makes the ride extremely smooth and efficient. At its heart there are a pair of 134-horsepower (100-kilowatt) electric motors and there are six batteries. Lifted out of the water there is hardly any resistance and the boat can fly along at 30-knots if necessary. Fast cruising at around 24-knots is perhaps ideal.

Quick dimensions about the watercraft include a length 43.14-feet (13.15-meters) and a beam of approximately 14.8-feet (4.5 meters). Inside, the boat is controlled from a helm position that features a 32-inch touch screen. Large windows dominate the main deck area allowing passengers to be connected with their surroundings.
