News: Pioneer Yachts Launch PY60 "Pioneer One"

"Pioneer One"; The First PY60 Launched

"Pioneer One", the first PY60 power catamaran by Pioneer Yachts has been launched to the water. The yacht is expected to make its world debut at the 2026 edition of the Cannes Yachting Festival. This yacht under average scenarios is expected to operate on solar-electric power. The majority of the upper surfaces of the superstructure have been clad in photo-voltaic panels.

Given this is the first vessel, Pioneer One will be essentially a test bed to prove-out the technologies which is why the owner, Mike Frank of the yard will cruise extensively on the vessel once it is commissioned. The vessel is now in the water and has commenced the sea trials phase of testing before it can be handed over to the owner.

This platform is aimed at reducing dependency on shore power as well as making its operation as green as possible. However, it does not go the full way of being 100% green like the new Vitters Project 'Zero'. The catamaran integrates solar panels, battery storage, electric propulsion and diesel generators into a single energy management system.

Of course this yacht will not win any speed races however, it focuses on leisure type cruising which has its top speed at around 11-knots and the cruising speed is set at 7.5-knots. On the interior the yacht has its design via Micheletti + Partners while the exterior is by Cossutti & Ganz.
