  1. Closer Look At The Palm Beach GT50 Express
Palm Beach is a name that attracts a certain clientele and their offerings are not only eye-catching but performance oriented too. In 2019 we looked at a Palm Beach GT50 Open at a glance. This is when this model was ready for the Miami Yacht Show debut. This time we are delving much deeper into a sistership of the model, the GT50 Express - which is a fully enclosed version-.
  2. While the GT50 Open doesn't have a main deck interior as the model name suggests, the GT50 Express does and incorporates more of the traditional salon feel. However, even though there is an enclosed deck now on the GT50 Express it doesn't mean that customers will loose contact with the outside world. In fact, there is ample glass fitted here as well as electric windows that can wind down and up -akin to you vehicle windows-. Additionally there is a sunroof for those good weather days.
  3. On the interior main deck as you walk in from the aft cockpit area there can be a bit of a galley area to one side and a settee arrangement opposing. The GT50 is a semi-production boat so there is some room for customization, We'd imagine that this interior area can see a few changes here and there to meet a customer's personal functionality like in this view below where an opposing settee mirrors the other. Forward of this area is the helm position to starboard and a forward seating area to port.
  4. Directly forward after the helm area you are led down a couple stairs into the lower deck of the vessel and this is where you will find the accommodation for the vessel. Typically you will find a two cabin layout on this vessel with a dayhead/bathroom for the second cabin. The second cabin is off the steps while the main cabin is forward which is a bit larger in size and is more of a V-berth style cabin. The main cabin has access to a bathroom but the toilet aspect is to one side while the shower is to the other and the second cabin has direct access to this shower as well. It is likely the layout can be changed a bit to meet individual preferences. As you can probably ascertain, the boat sleeps up to four guests in this configuration.
  5. On the Palm Beach GT50 Express the engines are forward -much more forward than you may suspect-. They are actually more towards the center of the boat and a hatch inside the floor of the saloon gives access below to that area. It reveals two Volvo Penta IPS 800s. These are good enough to run this vessel up t0 38-knots with a fast cruising speed of 32-knots. Fuel burn is calculated to be 24 gallons per hour at 21-knots. Cruising range is approximately 350 nautical miles.
  6. In terms of specs for the Palm Beach GT50 Express, despite the model name the vessel is actually 56.2-feet long or around 17.1-meters in overall length. The beam is 14.8-feet or 4.48-meters and the draft is just 3.1-feet or just under a meter. As mentioned before the boat is powered by a pair of Volvo Penta IPS 800S engines which are around 600 horse power each. Total fuel to be carried is around 1,500 LT and 510 LT of fresh water can be stored. The composite-made yacht displaces approximately 30,468 lbs.
