  1. 37L (Legend) By Ocean Alexander
Production yacht builder Ocean Alexander is a well-recognized name for those who keep up with luxury yacht offerings. In recent years the yard has been making a thrust to revolutionize its offerings with ever-more stylish and modern yachts. In doing this, the available range has expanded and there are now four main categories that customers have to choose from; the Divergence, Revolution, Explorer and Legend. Divergence is OA's foray into the center console market. The other yachts from the remaining three ranges are for a crowd with a discerning eye for the finer things under 40-meters. The Legend series is what we'll be looking at in this feature. The yard offers the Legend 32L as well as the slightly larger 37L.
  2. The 37L is the flagship of the range and overall of the OA fleet. So as to not be confused from the start, the maximum length of this vessel without any appendages added is actually 35.9-meters. The model name 37L is garnered from the length of the vessel when the transom door to the beach club is deployed and down to the water. The vessel measures 36.7-meters or 120.5-feet under those circumstances. Her overall beam reaches 7.47-meters or 24.6-feet with a draft 2.01-meters, so traveling to the Caribbean is certainly not an issue.
  3. Three internal decks are available on the OA 37L and they are the Lower, Main and Upper/Bridge decks. There is an open-air Sky deck which can be fitted with alfresco seating and a jacuzzi to the owner's wishes. Much of the volume of the yacht goes to the interior but there is also abundant exterior deck space available. Two bar set-ups are available on the aft main and aft bridge decks with alfresco seating in both instances. The aft bridge deck has storage for the vessel's main tender served by a crane on the port side. This area can easily be used for lounging when the tender is splashed. A small, intimate seating area is also located on the foredeck, ahead of the bridge.
  4. The interior is where many customers will enjoy the 37L experience, with light pouring into the internal spaces. The main salon which is characterized by large side glazing affording great views and an open-plan concept that flows directly into the formal dining space. The tones here evoke a sense of timelessness, modernity and maturity.
  5. Dining in the formal space is a treat with the accoutrements chosen but mainly due to the light filled space from the abundance of glazed surfaces all around. There is an added bonus of sliding glass doors which allows the dining space to be opened up for natural cross breezes to flush the space at anchor. This also allows direct access the the side decks.
  6. Forward of the dining area is a galley on the main deck. Presented as a clean, minimal and functional space the chef would be right at home. It also features a lovely view with a dedicated separate entrance and exit from the side deck. The business-end of the galley is out of frame but there are multiple fridge and freezer units, an induction cook top with hood vent, microwave, oven(s) and upper / lower storage cabinets.
  7. Accommodations for guests appears to be ten to twelve based on the standard plans. Two doubles and two twins are situated on the lower deck while the master is forward on the main deck in locale. It's possible that pullmans are located in the twin berths. As for the master suite, this room gets a superyacht style placement with a 180 degree field of view.
  8. The twin berths benefit from similar finishes and follow a principle color palette. Located within the hull forward of the double cabins, these rooms are ideal for children or flexible guest arrangements. The rooms are surprisingly spacious with separate deck area and direct access to ensuite facilities. All cabins have ensuite bathrooms so guests are completely self-contained.
  9. The highest internal deck is the bridge deck where the skylounge is located. This can easily be accessed from inside the main salon stairs on the starboard side, near the dining space. If you are on the exterior, stairs from the aft main deck will lead to the upper aft deck and to the skylounge. Inside is like a mini-salon with L-shaped sectional to port, a games/card table to starboard and a large flatscreen on the wall that separates the bridge from the skylounge. Ample glazing makes use of the height afforded by this elevated location.
  10. The Legend series moves Ocean Alexander closer to the megayacht territory offering capable platforms that are finished to the highest luxe details. The OA 37L measures just shy of 36-meters and is sized well to access most any major marina; something to consider as marinas are pushed to capacity around the world.
