  1. 80-meter Superyacht "Artefact" Delivered
German custom superyacht builder Nobiskrug has made their first delivery of 2020 and that is the 2019-launched 80-meter superyacht "Artefact". A collaboration between the yard and a Gregory C Marshall produced the exterior while Reymond Langton worked their magic for the interior spaces. She was built as hull 790 at Nobiskrug and launched in mid-2019 after approximately 18 months of construction.
  2. The name Artefact is seen reflected in the exterior design of the yacht particularly when it comes to the irregular angles and fragment pieces of glass used. One could easily argue that these non-generic designed pieces nod to the bone and fossil pieces of a pre-historic time. Either way, the yard used a wealth of glass on this new build with the atrium section alone featuring a large proportion of the glazing. Approximately 60 tonnes of glass-work was used on the exterior of the vessel.
  3. Artefact is also relatively environmentally friendly as a hybrid yacht. ABB has installed a DC-bus diesel-electric Azipod system. Solar photovoltaic panels are installed on the hardtop and can produce up to 6-kW of extra power. Artefact is in-fact one of the first yachts overall to comply with IMO Tier III regulations. With Dynamic Positioning onboard she can visit environmentally sensitive areas without the need to physically drop anchor. An interesting fact about this yacht is the superstructure is made of composite materials. Seems like an odd-choice on such a large vessel but it had alot to do with weight savings and practicality. The odd-shapes of the glass pieces can be easier fitted in a composite structure than on metal. Composites are also alot lighter too when the very heavy glass is installed then the look is achieved without having an overly top-heavy yacht. Artefact conducted her sea trial period in the Baltic Sea and is now ready to conquer the seven seas.
