  1. Navier 27 Electric Foiling Boat

Ever heard of Navier before? There's a good chance that you haven't because this is the name of a Californian start-up. The Navier 27 is their first splash and it's a bold initial offering. Firstly, it's an electric boat and secondly it's an electric foiling boat. While boats and even smaller ships have used foils before, such as hydrofoil craft in ferry and even naval applications and to a lesser extent with the Hull-Vane of Heesen 42-meter build "Alive", it is still not widespread across the industry.
  2. The foiling technology on the Navier 27 design isn't fixed to one particular depth but rather permits retraction to allow the vessel to come nearshore of in shallow confines without damaging the foiling apparatus. The Navier 27 is envisioned to be built as a cabin variant or hardtop version. Navier says the 27 is suitable for fishing, water skiing, family outings, or service as a unique and special yacht tender. The foils allow for contactless passage of the main hull in 3 to 4-foot conditions and the foiling scope is between 18 to 30+ knots.
  3. Power is provided by a pair of 50kw Electric engines which should allow for speeds well above 20-knots although Navier doesn't provide a top speed. At 20-knots they suggest a 75-plus nautical mile range. Remember this is an electric boat. It is capable of carrying up to ten onboard and has an 8.6-foot beam and 27-foot length. The design was presented at the just concluded Palm Beach International Boat Show.
