  1. MC82P Power Cat By McConaghy Boats
McConaghy Boats is in the news as they sold the first unit in their new MC82P line. This is a 25-meter power cat with different styling than we usually see from this builder. This may be the case because the exterior has been penned by Ker Yacht Design. On the interior it is different thanks to m2atelier bringing an Italian flair to the onboard atmosphere.
  2. Taking a peek onboard thanks to the following interior renderings, there is immense space on offer. This is possible because catamaran hulls provide significantly wider beams than on a monohull of the same LOA. Bare in mind you are on a 25-meter vessel and there is 10.22-meters of overall beam, that's approaching 34-feet of beam. Many monohulls that are 82-feet long have a beam of 21-feet. It is not clear if the renderings McConaghy Boats showcase on their website is reflective of how the interiors will look on the first hull which was recently sold. However, you can get a sense as to how the main social internal space looks, a very open plan main salon with dining and galley all wrapped into one.
  3. In terms of accommodation, the MC82P in its standard configuration will sleep up to eight (8) guests in four (4) doubles, two in each hull. The yard is offering some leeway though with the option to change some of those doubles to twins for more flexibility. Regardless, all guest cabins have ensuite bathroom facilities for the guest convenience. The interior headroom onboard varies from 2-meters to 2.3-meters.
  4. Construction of the yacht will see use of E-glass/epoxy/foam sandwich with carbon fiber structural elements naturally for reinforcement of key areas. The exterior though is where many guests will typically find themselves and this yacht has multiple areas for guests to enjoy. This render suggests it all with formal seating regions to al fresco areas and open areas for loose furnishings. On the aft main deck there is a hydraulic platform which is used to store the main tender, which can be up to 5.7-meters in length. Once lowered to the water, the tender platform can serve as a swim platform. Additionally it can be raised back to deck level to provide even more lounging and relaxing real estate. She will be powered by two Yanmar engines which are expected to provide a 17-knot top speed and with 8,000 LT of fuel onboard the range will permit flexibility when cruising at 10-knots. The timeline for this build to complete is in early 2023.
