  1. Project 'Luminance' Launches At Lurssen
German custom superyacht builder Lurssen has most of their projects and information about them buttoned and tightly controlled. This is no less true for the superyacht the yard launched yesterday, 9th of February. A massive superyacht only known so far by the Project name 'Luminance' was launched from the floating dry dock. The yacht believed to be in the region of 145-meters long emerged from the facility tightly controlled by assisting tugs to be towed to the outfitting berth. The design is by Espen Oeino on the exterior and the interior is by Zuretti and is estimated to have an internal volume in the region of 9,000 GT. Lurssen hasn't confirmed her length to be 145-meters publicly but assuming it is she will be, once delivered, the 15th largest yacht in the world. The beam is approximately 20-meters. Lurssen provided the following image after the launch.
  2. Lurssen has kept information about this project secret (even up to its launch) and there isn't any more information available other than when she first launched back in February 2021. Construction is believed to have commenced in 2018. Even with supply chain issues brought on by Covid-19 a yacht this size is an extraordinary complex set of engineering. Lurssen has been extremely busy in the last few months as you will remember they launched the 146-meter superyacht "OPERA" which has been outfitting and undertaking sea trials since then. Today, the yard launched the 90-meter superyacht Project 1601 believed to be the successor to the 71-meter "Skat". We should also see Project 'JAG' (expected to be the successor to the 2014-built 95.2-meter "Kismet") this year as well. Project Luminance, a yacht Lurssen suggests is 130-plus meters, will be sea trialed and delivered in 2023.
