News: Hessen Delivers 55M Superyacht "Laurentia"

Heesen 55-meter Superyacht "Laurentia" Delivered

After an intensive round of seatrials, the 55-meter superyacht "Laurentia" built by Heesen Yachts has been handed over to her owner. The yacht was under construction at Heesen's facilities as Project 'Alida'. The design is by Omega Architects specifically Frank Laupman. She was under construction with no owner and then was sold to her current owner earlier this year (March). Those who remember another Heesen build, "Azamanta", the design of Laurentia will appear familiar but the key difference is her all-white paint-finish. The pronounced shark-tooth feature just aft of the wheelhouse remains. Another difference is the vertical windows on the forward main deck are established on both sides versus vertical windows on the port side and then a mix of horizontal and vertical on the starboard side in the same area on Azamanta.

Key features onboard include a jacuzzi on the forward sundeck, full-sized tender garage in the bow that is served on both sides by shell-doors and overhead cranes. She is built on the well-used Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) developed by Van Oossanen. Top speed on sea trials was in the region of 16.6-knots and dialed back to 13-knots her range is calculated to be 4,500 nautical miles. Making this all possible are a pair of MTU 8V 4000 M63 marine diesel engines. The interiors are by Radyca and they used a number of prized materials to finish the internal spaces. For example, Wenge' contrasts with White Oak, White Arabescato and Brown Grecale Marble again offer contrasting value and texture is offered via Wools and Leathers. Accommodation is for up to twelve guests in six cabins.
