Heesen Yachts Reveal 42-meter Project 'Cayman'

Dutch builder Heesen revealed a new project recently. It was unveiled at the recently concluded Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) as Project 'Cayman' not to be confused with Caiman. The project perhaps is called Cayman because it takes inspiration from the Caribbean for its cool blue waters, white sandy beaches and generally laid-back vibes. This philosophy is seen echoed on the interior of Project Cayman with the textures, colours and type of furniture utilized.

Even though a laid-back atmosphere is being provided onboard this yacht can still get up to speed for an exhilarating run. Below decks will be a pair of MTU diesels to power her up to 25-knots. The patented Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) is being used on the project. You need a slim draft too if you plan to explore certain parts of the Caribbean and so Heesen gives Project Cayman a very slim 2.15-meter draft.

With the usual suspects on the exterior design (Heesen and Omega Architects) the interior was done by Hot Lab...a name we perhaps will be seeing more of collaborating with the Dutch yard. One of the great features about this 400GT yacht is that she has a decent beach club. How many 42-meter yachts do you know with a dedicated beach club! Of course that presents an interesting situation for tender storage since the traditional space is lost to the beach club. The main tender is actually stored on the fore deck along with two PWCs. There is a Jacuzzi on the forward sundeck along with ample seating. Guest accommodation is envisioned to be 10 in 5 cabins with a full beam master on the forward main deck position and two twins and two doubles on the lower deck. Crew cabin for 7 members are also on the lower deck.
