  1. Heesen Sells 80-meter Project 'Cosmos'
The galactic stars aligned for Dutch builder Heesen yachts as they have bagged the sale of their largest superyacht to date. The 80.07-meter superyacht is expected to be completed in 2022 and be their new flagship. It will also be their largest all-aluminium superyacht to-date and will be built with Van Oossanen's Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF). Expect decent performance out of this sleek beast.
  2. Speaking of sleek beast, if the external lines remind you of a couple past Heesen builds, notably, "Galactica Star" and "Galactica Super Nova" then you aren't too far off the mark. The exterior styling on Project 'Cosmos' YN19480 as she will be referred to in build is by the famed Winch Design studio. At 80.07-meters, she will finish build with a 1700GT internal volume. Performance wise, Project Cosmos will provide out-of-this-world performance with not two but four MTU 20V diesel engines promising 29-knot top-end speed. Below is a photo of sistership Galacica Star.
  3. Winch Design was appointed by the owners to create a streamlined yacht with innovative design traits but still retaining the Heesen DNA: muscular sportiness and timeless elegance. The extensive use of glass and the combination of soft and sculpted shapes make Project Cosmos a yacht packed full of contemporary charm; a thoroughbred racehorse, the next evolution of the Heesen breed. Twelve guests will be slept onboard with four cabins on the lower deck, a VIP and a main deck master suite. Heesen says 19-crew will be accommodated in 11 cabins. Highlight facets to the build will include a fully-rated helicopter landing pad for a Eurocopter EC135 that transforms into an outdoor cinema with stunning effect. A seven meter swimming pool with contra-flow jets will grace the aft main deck and be paired with a waterfall feature. The bottom of the pool will be glass, allowing light to filter to the Beach Club below. With a beach club on the aft lower deck one would expect the tender garage to be upfront in the bow. Winch has also designed a fully-custom limo main tender for Project Cosmos. We should look to the stars in 2022 as that is when the Cosmos is anticipated to fall. Below is a photo of sistership Galactica Super Nova.
