55-meter Project 'Castor' Floats Out At Heesen
Heesen has launched its latest build in the form of the 55-meter Project 'Castor'. The design as you would expect comes from the boards of Frank Laupman of Omega Architects. The interior on this variant of the 55-meter Steel model is by Bannenberg & Rowell. This 55-meter is the fourth hull in this series. Project Castor will be completed in time for delivery in a couple months.

A pair of MTU 8V 4000 M63 diesel power plants are onboard to power Project Castor. She is capable of trans-Atlantic runs at 13-knots gives an approximate 4,500 nautical mile range. When demanded this yacht will be able to reach 15.5-knots. Castor being hull 4 in the series has a few changes to the exterior that will be noted by a keen eye. Compare her to "Laurentia" for example, one of her sisterships, the skylounge of the upper deck is full-beam while on Laurentia, that area is a full walkaround deck. The suites onboard project Castor are also a bit larger than on her sisterships. The master suite for example is 73 square meters. Project 'Pollux' will be the fifth hull and feature an even larger master at 82 square meters.

Accommodation on Project Castor is for twelve in six cabins. A VIP on the bridge deck, master suite forward main deck and two doubles and two twins on the lower deck. She should be the first in this particular class offering this layout. Crew are kept on the lower deck as well. On deck amenities include a large social space on the bow ahead of the bridge, large sundeck and aft deck spaces. The tenders are carried on the bow like on Laurentia, "Vida" and there is no internal main tender garage as seen on "Azamanta". Project Castor will be prepared for sea trials which are to be conducted in the North Sea ahead of her delivery in August.
