    hi everybody!

as i told you, in the "peters schiffsbau" shipyard in northern germany a 130m yacht is in building process. i saw in a local newspaper an article that it has been in water for first time. i couldn't get around seeing it. and guess what? yes i made pictures! :D. the yacht is 130m long. at this point, its just a rusty old wreck, but a very large wreck :D

(don't mention the quality, i got some more pics, but that wasn't a digital, so i need to develop them, so they will follow, as fast as i can get them ^^)

I wonder if it was really intended to be a yacht? Or a specialized cruise ship?

Yeah... what Kelly said. It definitely looks more "ship" than yacht.

I'll admit though, that it's hard to tell much in that ugly state. LOL

hi, don't know the name, they don't want to tell me the name *grin* but its named project number 681 @ "peters schiffbau ag"

got a link here to the yard (if anybody want to travel there :D)

@kelly: yeah its a ship, not a yacht ;), the shipyard build a lot of of
little container-ships (saw one in building status)
but to speak from a yacht at this size is a bit difficult :/

Thank you for clearing that up Jannick. It was all the portholes wrapping around the bow that tipped me off.

Kelly, on the shipyard website they claim it's a yacht:

At the time a 130 m yacht is under construction in Wewelsfleth.
The keel-laying ceremony for this yacht with the newbuilding no. 681 took place in December 2004,
and it will be delivered in 2007.

Hard to tell the difference just from the looks. One thing is the swimplatform*, which you normally don't find on cruiseships.
Another difference between charteryachts and cruiseships: if you're paying the bill on a charter yacht, you'll tell the captain where you want to go. On a cruiseship, you may pay the bill, but you already know where you will be going.

    * well swimplatform..., it's still 1.5 - 2 m above the waterline. But close compared to the rest of the ship though.
  9. I have heard for some exterior Finishing activity of such a big project to take place in Germany within some months? So probably it is this one

well, you say the swimming platform is about 1-2 m above the waterline?
look at the yacht again and you see some white stripes, thats the height the waterline will be when alle interior is inside :)

    Hi Jannick,

I was actually counting from the white line. (seems about 1/2 tier)
Right now it looks more like 3 m or so.

It seems that it will become a kind of mini-marina with the boulders there. With steps leading down for easy boarding into smaller craft. Could actually become quite nice.

    Thanks for posting the pictures!

The prow of this Heywood yacht it's similar to Pelorus's one, look the reversed line on the forward hull, instead the stern remind Sultan and Cristal Ball projects by Martin Francis!

all around i would say 350 million up to 500 million

    (130m lying place isn't that cheap i guess ;))

In my opinion is that a little bit too high, because the rumors says the price of OCTOPUS is around 200 Mio. USD.

Crew, fuel, taxes ect.....make the standard calculation: 10 percent per year.

Why this reaction? Look at OCTOPUS. Hangar with many equipment for the helicopters. For me an Heliport. No more spectucular, but very nice :)
