Nordhavn has announced the latest progress update on the new Nordhavn N51. The first hull has now been released from the mold which represents the latest step towards completing this vessel. The hull has now been moved from the lamination hall to the assembly area of the facility at Telgeren & Partners in Istanbul -where the smaller N41 entry level passagemaker is also built-.

The first hull is actually destined to a customer and will not be an inventory piece as sometimes happens. "Everything looks great from what we can tell in the photos," said Drew Leishman who leads both the N41 and N51 projects. "I’m looking forward to seeing it in person." With production on track, the first N51 is expected to finish this fall. Once completed she will be delivered to her Australian buyer straight from the factory.

The N41 has been immensely popular for Nordhavn and the N51 appears to be following the same trajectory. Nordhavn says that they have 28 commitments for the N51 to date (compared to the N41 which has 44 commitments). While the N51 is a production boat there are one or two small 'customizations' an owner can make. There isn't a lot of room for this options-wise but you can make certain changes. The N51 is a two-stateroom standard boat but buyers have the option of choosing a day head or a walk-in closet. On the N41 the options are very slim as well. The N41 allows for one or two staterooms, installation of watermaker and optional teak deck.

The Nordhavn 51 follows the build model of her very successful smaller sister -the N41-. Powered by twin John Deere 4045AFM85 M1 160 bhp engines, the Nordhavn 51 will be a modern passagemaker to usher in the new decade with state-of-the-art technology at the engineering level and a contemporary design scheme. As is the case with the N41, the Nordhavn 51 will be CE Certified Category A for the most serious offshore use. Launching of hull 1 of the N51 is targeted for Summer 2022.
