New Buyer Acquires Fairline Yachts

British yacht builder Fairline Yachts that was under administration during the last few months has found another owner and has now been acquired by Bronzewood Capital. The private equity firm was careful in what in wanted to acquire after only taking on brand assets and tooling. It appears they have not acquired liabilities nor the factory in Oundle as Fairline rents that from the current landlord.

The deal will also see Fairline keep its identity being known as a premier yacht builder in the UK. Majority of Fairline workers should be retained under the new ownership. Even under administration, Fairline never stopped operations per se, just at reduced staffing levels. Bronzewood Capital specializes in turning-around so-called 'distressed business'.

Bronzewood Capital is helmed by David Buchler who has marine experience given that he is a serial yacht owner as well as director-investor in Ventura Yachts. Ventura Yachts is a distributor of Ferretti Group brands in the UK and Spain markets. Although it is a private equity company, it still has an understanding of how the marine yacht industry operates.

Customers can expect slightly more expensive boats from Fairline Yachts as one of the first tasks the new owners did was raise prices by 6%. It is an effort to help bring Fairline Yachts back to profitability after years of loses. Following the global financial crisis of 2008 Fairline Boats -as it was known as prior to 2015 - endured 'rocky waters' and eventually experienced trouble. Russian investors swooped-in and acquired the assets to restart as Fairline Yachts. They were then acquired by Hanover Investors in 2022 until towards the end of 2024. Now Bronzewood Capital is the latest chapter in the Fairline Yachts story.
