  1. "Charley 2"; Largest Cat Motor Yacht Built In Australia
Australia is known for building very large catamaran ferries that they export all over the world but catamaran yachts, not so much. Echo Yachts last launched one and that was called "Charley" (at 50-meters) meant to support a multi hull superyacht. The company has now launched another Charley, "Charley 2" at 56-meters making it the largest catamaran yacht built in Australia. With a GT just above 1040, this is impressive for a vessel not 60-meters.
  2. Charley 2 once again had its Naval Architecture done by One2Three Naval Architects. Relatively lighter-weight construction from Aluminium and a custom-made hull design makes her efficient while utilizing smaller engines than one would expect to be found on a 56-meter yacht. "This is a very special day for the teams at Echo Yachts and One2Three Naval Architects seeing the fruits of our combined efforts in the launch of Charley 2," said director of Echo Marine Group Mark Stothard. "She sits perfectly on the design waterline and is one of the most complete vessels I have seen at launch."
  3. Notable differences between the new Charley 2 and the older Charley; anchor pockets have been moved to the inboard of the hulls on Charley 2 vs outside on Charley. Charley 2 has the bridge roof covered in a combined 15 kw worth of photovoltaic panels capable of powering a third of the yachts needs on a fully-sunny day. The main tender storage platform on the stern was also redesigned on Charley 2. Owing to Charley 2's larger size accommodation is for 18 guests and 19 crew. Sea trials are anticipated to start in September and delivery will be a few weeks later.
