Cheoy Lee is back in the news with the launching of their 130-foot Explorer. The new yacht sees its exterior and Naval Architecture via Overing Yacht Designs while the interior is by Sylvia Bolton Designs. Designed and built to handle the demands of blue water adventures around the globe, the 130 Explorer is a rugged, steel-hulled expedition yacht fully capable of transoceanic range and self-sufficient voyaging. At the same time, this masterful mega yacht's sleek, contemporary styling refreshes the traditional concept of the utilitarian 'explorer yacht'.

As an explorer the vessel will be equally at home in exotic locations or more tame U.S coastal cruising. With its practical capabilities it still is a luxury platform that will offer its new owner all the creature comforts of land-based amenities on the water. It offers accommodations for ten guests in five suites, including a full-beam on-deck owner’s suite. There is even a beach club tucked inside the transom.

Onboard the 39.7-meter yacht there is approximately 420 GT worth of interior volume. Helping the interiors is an 8.53-meter beam on offer. Around 2.28-meters represents the draft. Three interior decks are available to the owner and guests along with an open-air sun deck that is mostly covered by a massive hardtop. Other amenities onboard include a jacuzzi and sunpads on the foredeck ahead of the wheelhouse.

With a steel hull and aluminium superstructure she has been ruggedly built. The Cheoy Lee 130 is not for sprinting as it employs twin CAT marine diesels for longer range cruising. In fact, her top speed is only 13-knots. However, that trade-off in speed delivers on efficiency providing a range of 4,000 nautical miles at 12-knots.
