80-meter "Excellence" Launches At Abeking & Rasmussen

Over the weekend, German custom superyacht builder Abeking & Rasmussen launched their latest superyacht. Since the vessel started construction, the design has been on the watch-list of everyone in the industry simply because it is different from the main lot of yachts being completed. She was built as hull 6505 and sometimes referred to as Project 'Intensity'. One of the more distinguishing features of this vessel is its reverse bow. We have not seen a complete reverse bow (on large builds) perhaps since M/Y "A" and M/Y "Predator".

The design is by Winch Design Studio. It is a very unique looking yacht and great addition to the diversity of superyacht builds in the market, and another great design for Andrew Winch Design. The other striking feature onboard is the sheer number of glass panels utilized on this yacht. The mirror-like reflective nature of the panels also provide a unique look and will call for a lot of hang-time for the deck crew to keep in pristine condition. This yacht has been built for a serial yacht owner who is extremely experienced and knows what he wants. One of the features that we have seen on some of his other yachts that made it on to this newest build is the louvered or opened overhangs. Surely awnings will be attached into those to keep a clean silhouette. "Excellence" is penned for delivery for the Summer season of 2019.
