  1. Rossi Navi Launches 70-meter superyacht "Polaris"
Italian yard Rossi Navi has launched their largest superyacht to date, the 70-meter "Polaris". According to the yard, after four years of construction the yacht has now officially hit the water. For those following the build closely she was under construction as Project King Shark. Not only is Polaris the largest build by the Italian builder she is an Ice-class vessel made to traverse even the Polar regions. Her sleek and very refined superyacht appearance may not lend to this notion but she is built to Ice-Class.
  2. The design is by Team For Design both internally and externally. The Naval Architecture is by Arrabito Naval Architects. Enrico Gobbi's hard work on the exterior pays off by ensuring this icy-water-capable superyacht's looks were not compromised to achieve the result. "The neat and elegant shapes of the yacht are underlined by long, continuous black window surfaces with curved details that soften up and characterize the overall cleanness of the superstructure. Our aim here was to open up the interiors towards the exterior, ensuring an ongoing view of the sea through the decks. This was achieved not by creating huge invasive openings but by instead designing refined, long and slender windows with which we were able to achieve the same goal," said Enrico.
  3. The aptly-named Polaris has key design features that were brought to life as part of the private client's brief. The owner has an entire deck for themselves. Overall the vast 1,542 GT interior volume allows for features like an indoor waterfall that flows over a back-lighted Onyx wall in the main salon. Guests will find the wellness center facilities inviting and relaxing providing amenities such as a fully equipped gym, a sauna, a hammam, a massage room, yoga area and so on. There will be up to six jet skis stored onboard and guests will be shuttled to and from shore in a custom 10-meter limousine tender that was made in-house by Rossi Navi. On the main deck guests can indulge in the soundproof cinema room that feature wall dividers covered with precious crystal staves. On the outside on the aft main deck there is a 6-meter pool for guests to utilize with a whirlpool feature. The owner has their own deck and the private terrace comes completed with a waterfall feature to encourage 'zen vibes'.
  4. Polaris is equipped with diesel-electric propulsion. Azipull AZP085 FP units by Rolls Royce are mounted to the vessel to provide an anticipated top speed of 17-knots. Cruising is set at 15-knots and her range and economical speed is no less than 6,000 nautical miles. 3x Cat C32 1,081 bkW + 2x Cat C9.3 355 bkW along with 2x Marelli Motori 1,866 kW main electric motors are onboard. Dynamic positioning is also available to keep the vessel fixed without the use of anchors. Guest accommodation is for up to twelve (12) guests in six cabins while seventeen (17) crew are provided for. Polaris is 70.20-meters LOA with a beam of 12.70-meters. She draws 3.35-meters below the waterline.
