  1. X-Plorer Yachts Project Orion
This is the design of a 40-meter power catamaran. As far as we know it is not under construction but can be built if a client comes on board with the project. It is a 39.9-meter aluminum power cat to be built by X-Plorer Yachts based in Australia. However, it appears the yard is looking for another yard in Australia to build the project. Project Orion (GC40) as it is currently known as creates luxury living on the water across four decks and given that it is a catamaran platform, internal volume will be handy. It should be noted that no major specifications were available at the time of publishing.
  2. Stability from her wider 12.49-meter catamaran footprint and a shallow 2.5-meter draft allows this vessel to go almost whereever her future owner wants to take her. Misha Merzliakov is responsible for the exterior design as well as the interior. Naval Architecture is the work of Periscope Naval Architects. A specific engine package has not been listed by the builder but they do suggest that Project Orion will be able to run at 10-12-knots cruising speeds giving a likely range in the region of 4,000 nautical miles. However, she is envisioned to sprint to 16-knots when required.
  3. Twelve passengers will be able to be accommodated onboard along with 9 crew members. The yard doesn't state the configuration of the rooms but below you can see an example of one of the rooms. The al-fresco dining area is also set for twelve persons while a nearby bar will provide guests with their preference of libation. Inside, the salon layout is is oriented almost opposite as you might be accustomed to on a regular monohull. The seating area is off to the side and the dining is on the opposite side with a bar along the centerline.
  4. The yachts standout features include a helipad on the aft deck capable of carrying the helicopter onboard. Storage for a couple of tenders onboard including a sizable tender on the 8-meter tender-lift located aft between the hulls. Hydrodynamic model testing has already been completed at AMC.
