Athena did not look that big, surprisingly. She does have cool tenders though. Nice woodwork too!

    New J Boat

This boat was beautiful! Its rig is almost as tall as Athena's largest one. Had a crew of about 25 when they went sailing. Afterwords they took the spinnaker out of the boat. Now that was work :)

Pangaea is originally the Samantha Lin (and I believe Dream at some point in between) built by Halter Marine. She was designed at 184 ft. LOA with a beam of 36 ft.

She's picked up an enormous sat dome since I last past pictures of her.

why are the domes on some yachts so big but yet rather small on other yachts of the same size. Is there an advantage in size?

Best place to see the fireworks

Check out the Athena's third mast. The birds-nest was obviously the best place to view the fireworks.

    Size Matters

Usually the larger the dome, the better the signal to be received. Traditionally larger dishes/domes allow for faster transmission speeds. Larger domes have larger sat dishes inside of them and they can track television or phone/data signals better in rougher sea states. The larger domes usually have greater world wide coverage areas in which to hook up with a satellite.
