Nordhavn launches N60 Trawler Yacht "Julia"

The final steps in Nordhavn 60 #61’s path to delivery were completed recently as she embarked on the first of a battery of seatrials that will deem her completely seaworthy and ready for shipment to her owners. Cameras followed the boat and factory techs, vendor reps, as well as PAE Project Manager Dave Harlow, who oversaw a full day of testing that required every system on the boat to be run at its full potential. The day’s assessments, which included steering, emergency stopping and back-up tests, replicated the same performance evaluations required to achieve CE certification. “She passed with flying colors,” notes Harlow.

The engine and equipment sea trial is followed up by further long-term testing at which point the boat gets trimmed up. The final steps include haul-out, bottom paint and then N60#61, "Julia" gets shipped to Malta where her excited owners await her arrival. The couple, who hail from Germany and Sweden, purchased the boat out of our UK office. Their salesman, Philip Roach, who also serves as Director of Nordhavn Europe, says Malta is becoming an increasingly popular delivery location due to the favorable tax rates there. After final commissioning - expected to take about 6 weeks - the owners will mark their maiden voyage with a tour of Europe.
