  1. Feadship launches 78-meter superyacht "Venus"

Call her modern and unconventional but the latest superyacht launch at Feadship is truly out of this world. Actually, she is called “Venus” and is a 78-meter all-aluminium superyacht. Venus is fully custom and probably is the largest all-aluminium superyacht built by the yard so far. She was launched on Sunday, 28th October 2012 at the Feadship De Vries yard in Aalsmeer, The Netherlands.

Project ‘Aqua’ -Hull number 684 (Venus)- is definitely one of Feadship’s most secretive projects to date owing to the customer that commissioned her. Even though she is outside to finish prepare her for sea trials not many details are known about this radically modern custom superyacht. What we do know is that her design styling is by the radical Philippe Starck, same person behind 119-meter superyacht “A”. Engineering and architecture is by De Voogt Naval Architects.

A number of features jump out at you when looking at Venus, from the straight and polished metal bow to windows that wrap around the entire bow. A cube structure on the upper deck above the bridge does a good job at screening the yacht’s SAT COM domes and other equipment. The all ‘frameless’ glass bridge captures the attention too not only for that reason but it also clearly showcases a plethora of ‘Apple’ monitors as the displays in the bridge. The tenders appear to be stored in the aft hull accessed via garage shell doors. She’s out in the open now for completing and preparation towards sea trials. If more information comes to hand about you YF will inform you!
