  1. Claydon Reeves and BMT Nigel Gee collaborate on 55-meter 'Oxygen' CAT project

A collaboration between Claydon Reeves and BMT Nigel Gee produces a new design for a large powered catamaran. The 55-meter design proposal is on a special SWATH platform. The vessel is being called Project 'Oxygen' but as luxurious as the design is intended to be, it will be as utilitarian as can be imagined.

Actually, one of the main purposes underpinning the design is for a platform for dive exploring. It is for this reason that the design is capable of carrying extenisve dive equipment. To haul that equipment its prospective explorers Oxygen is proposed to be powered by four MTU engines of the 2000 series. Top speed of Oxygen is expected to be in the region of 24-knots with far more comfortable ride compared to a monohull of the same size. Not only because of her wide footprint complements her twin hulls but also the T-foiling below the waterline accounts for the control of her ride even in above normal sea conditions.
  2. Claydon Reeves approached the design with a clean sheet of paper. “We were delighted when BMT Nigel Gee asked us to assist them in creating a luxury vessel on their XSS hull platform.” says James Claydon. “The extreme beam available only on a catamaran allowed us to set aside conventional motor yacht design principles and instead create a totally original exterior, clothing a practical yet intuitive internal arrangement.”

On the interior, guest accommodation can be found strewn about the three decks while the owner's suite is on the main deck with stunning forward views thanks to ample glazing and a private terrace. The crew cabins are situated on the lower deck. Oxygen is a utilitarian vessel with diving foci and therefore should not be no surprise to find a submarine onboard. Above deck, an eight-meter tender and five-meter submarine rest whilst the fore deck helipad adds further exploration options for guests. Aft, a large dive store with decompression chamber and service area are located in the port side lazarette with the crew tender to starboard.
