  1. Heesen Secures Contract on 6500 FDHF

Heesen Yachts is proud to announce the signing of its sixth new-build contract in 2010. Following the sale of two 47-meter full-displacement yachts, a 37-meter semi-displacement yacht, and two all-aluminum fully customized builds – one of 50-meters and the other of 35-meters – the sale of this 65-metre fast displacement yacht represents the cherry on the cake for Heesen’s sales department.

Fabio Ermetto, Heesen’s Sales and Marketing Director comments: “Despite the financial crisis that is still affecting the yachting industry, Heesen Yachts has been able to sign six new contracts with a total length of 281 meters. This clearly shows that the financial standing and reliability of our company is highly appreciated by the market.” Following the positive results of tank tests completed at the Wolfson Unit in April 2010, Heesen Yachts announced the revolutionary 65-metre concept based on the Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) during the Monaco Yacht Show in September.

The FDHF is the result of design studies and tank tests carried out over 20 years by the highly respected Dutch Naval Architects, Van Oossanen and Associates. At the end of the presentation Fabio Ermetto announced the signing of the contract, which will be delivered to her owners in June 2013. The construction of the 65-meter Fast Displacement will start in mid-December 2010 at the Heesen shipyard in Oss, the Netherlands. While the aluminum hull will be manufactured in shed number six, the yacht will be fitted out in the dry dock in shed number five, which will be lengthened by about twelve meters to accommodate the 65-metre yacht.
