  1. Columbus Yachts 125-foot hybrid megayacht

A new yacht has been ordered to the Palumbo Shipyard for the Columbus Yachts brand. The new vessel was ordered by a Russian and comes only a few months after the launching of the last yacht from the yard, "Prima".

A look at the Columbus 125 reveals a design by the folks at Hydro Tec, specifically Sergio Cutolo. As is the cause to reduce carbon footprint and create a larger and healthier path of operation, the Hybrid Columbus 125 yacht.

To be built with a full-displacement hull the vessel is expected to tread lightly with hybrid technology in propulsion. With that in mind, an optional diesel- electric-hybrid propulsion system could be utilized. Lighter aluminum will be used in her construction to save weight and use less fuel. Her cruising range is expected to be in the region of 5,000 nautical miles.

Accommodation for eight guests aboard the new vessel will be in three cabins below and an owner's suite. Three cabins will be provided for the other crew while one for the captian is available. A roomy 8.20-meters overall beam and approximate 38-meter length will make her a comfortable platform to be aboard. Delivery of the Columbus 125 yacht is expected to be August 2013.
